Vector WERO – Whitewater Rafting Park

The Vector Wero Whitewater Park is New Zealand’s first and world class facility to provide artificial rapid flowing river and water course for rafting, kayaking recreation and sports.  The facility comprises two Grade 2 and Grade 3/4 rivers meeting international standard for white water rafting and a 9,000m2 water pond providing 14,000m3 of water to drive the two rapid flowing water in action.

Gaia Engineers has been engaged by the client Counties Manukau Pacific Trust since 2003 for the Civil and Geotechnical Design of the Stage 1 TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre (now Vodafone Events Centre) development.   Gaia Engineers was again retained by the client in 2014 as its civil and geotechnical designer for the Vector Whitewater Park and Vodafone Events Centre Extension Project. Nigel Mark-Brown of Environmental Context Ltd was engaged by Gaia as its subconsultant for environmental and stormwater design.

The facilities were opened to the public in 2016 and have been one of the key facilities providing water sport and safety training in New Zealand.  The Wero Whitewater Park is also a major attraction to overseas tourists.
