Stevenson Aggregates Drury Quarry

Drury Quarry is the largest greywacke rock quarry in the New Zealand.  Gaia Engineers has been engaged by Stevenson Aggregates Drury Quarry since 2002 for nearly all development projects in the quarry site.  Major works include the geotechnical design and construction observation of the following works:

  • Overburden and rock mining cut slope currently up to 120m high
  • Disposal fill site with over 1 million cubic meters capacity up to 60m high for disposal of overburden cut and clean fill
  • Continuous monitoring and evaluation of high wall stability
  • 20m high three tiers Inextensible Reinforced Mechanically Stabilised Earth (MSE) retaining wall for supporting the GAP65 crushing plants.

Other works include the geotechnical and structural design of various reinforced concrete aggregate storage structures, pugmill and water tower foundations within the quarry site.
