Drury South Crossing

Gaia Engineers has been engaged by Drury South Ltd since 2015 as its geotechnical engineer for the land development of the Drury South Crossing project.  The project comprises the development of 361 hectare of land area with 2 major stream crossing bridges and over 3 million cubic meters of cut and fill earthworks.   It is one of the largest scale land development projects in Auckland.

In the early stage of the project, Gaia Engineers undertook very extensive embankment trials to optimise the earthwork design and maximise the material utilisation within the site.  To meet the very stringent pavement and stormwater & wastewater services deformation requirement of the project site, Gaia has also utilised a mixture of various materials from the Drury Quarry to economically construct the subgrade improvement layer for the pavement.  Excellent pavement performance and very significant earthwork cost saving was achieved in the project.

Phase 1 development and construction is completed in early 2021.  Phase 2 design and construction of the project has just commenced and is expected to be completed in 2024
